oh my we’re so aghast at powder to have the gorgeous carlotta here to speak with us.

welcome to powder carlotta, queen of sydney’s kings cross.

you were with the world famous les girls for an astounding twenty six years. your bridget bardot looks and boisterous manner led you to be the compere of the club. how were those years for you and what was the atmosphere of les girls like?

I have very fond memories. It was a learning period. It was bitchy and fun.

how did you come to find yourself on the stage at les girls? what were your first performing experiences?

I worked at a club called The Jewel Box and asked to help open Les Girls.
you were queen of the cross back in the day when it was the golden mile. of all the characters you met back in that time which ones do you remember most?

Roslyn Norton, the artist and many of the stars of today.

the legendary underworld figure, abe saffron, ran the building les girls was in. what do you recall of abe?

Actually Abe did not run Les Girls; he owned the building. Sammy Lee ran it.

you’ve been working the cabaret circuit for years now; recently with your shows carlotta: live and intimate and ,em>life’s still a drag. what can one expect when attending one of your shows?

A glamourous and fun night.

when performing your cabaret acts what are the favourite numbers that you like to pull out?

I mostly sing now. But I do like My Way… it speaks for itself.

which performers have been you’re major influences over the years?

Streisand, Cher, Bette Midler and Shirley Bassey.

in your younger days you were of the male. do you recall any experiences that made you realise that you were transgendered?

I just knew.

in the seventies you did a stint on the notorious australian television series, number ninety six. your appearance was shrouded in secrecy; why was this and how was your experience of the show as a whole? also did you come into contact with australia’s femme fatale abigail and what was she like?

I was hidden til the end of my time on the show. It was a shocking failure. Abigail was lovely.

of all your experiences with the celebs you’ve met from around the world which one stands out for you?

Shani Lewis who was Nancy in the movie Oliver Twist.

being such a fashionable and beautiful woman as yourself are there any fashion items that are simply a must for you?

Cleansing the skin.

and what’s next for you in the coming months carlotta? there have been rumours abounding about a movie based on your life; how is that project coming along?

It’s coming but when I don’t know.
