you can’t walk through grey lynn, or auckland for that matter, without being touched by component’s work and his beautiful, pointed observations on everything from fallen hip hop legends, to the queen, to deeply political critiques on censorship and conformity. his work demands public attention and brings the street to life as a medium for expression and debate. he’s self-taught and navigates the worlds of business and art carefully by diversifying and changing up his work constantly whilst giving back to the community, running workshops and sharing his passion for art and djing.

shamsia hassani

shamsia hassani born in nineteen eighty eight (iran) is an afghan graffiti artist, and teacher at the faculty of fine arts, kabul university. in her graffiti, shamsia often paints women in burqas, and fishes, symbols of the atmosphere flowing around her and her own life experiences. she was selected as one of top ten for the second afghan contemporary art prize in two thousand and nine, and since then has been part of solo and group exhibitions inside and outside of afghanistan. teaching at the fine arts faculty of kabul university, shamsia, who is also one of the founders of berang arts organization, puts her best effort into exchanging her contemporary arts experiences with her students and presenting more artists to the community.

the mandela poster project

in may two thousand and thirteen, a group of south african designers came up with an idea to celebrate the life of nelson mandela by collecting ninety five exceptional posters from around the world, honouring madiba's lifelong contribution to humanity. the independent team of volunteers, now known as the mandela poster collective , gave freely of their time and expertise to make the exceptional happen: in sixty days more than seven hundred posters were submitted by designers from more than seventy countries.

nico

nico is a wall painter currently residing in sydney, australia. his unique style features heavy use of detailed, illustrative linework and textures, often in conjunction with muted colour palettes. nico's street-based works often depict ominous surreal animal-esque beings, spirits and deities.

nearchos is active in the field of art; through his exploration, he is more concerned to illustrate something ʽhonestʼ than ʽgood lookingʼ. This approach has lead him to illustrate for cultural events, book covers and newspapers, among others. he co-founded polkadot design studio with his partner, clair georgelli.

he started portrait and fashion photography in april two thousand and six as a spare time activity - as a creative counterweight to his job - and this is still the same today. after making his first steps digitally, he soon moved forward - and now uses large and bulky manual cameras loaded with film of various sizes.

vinny bambora

vinny's been a very naughty boy for a long time. he can't help himself. breaking the rules, he thinks, is paramount to gaining enlightenment. so he spends all his time trying to strip away those boundaries... sometimes, when he's really out of it, he kids himself that he's already found nirvana.

louise carter

louise is a writer who once spent an entire year writing one poem per day – an experience which, while worthwhile, is not one she would recommend. at the moment she is working on her first verse novel, called warm in the belly of a monster. when she’s not writing, louise can be found baking cakes and talking to cats in the street. she lives in sydney.

maru delgado

multi-award winning writer, maru delgado has published in utero and el autoeclipse del espejo. she's translated the poetry of plath and vivien with maria miranda for the collection lady lazarus. she has taken part in various international magazines, directed two urban intervention projects and studied at the school of literature and linguistics at the universidad nacional de san agustin in arequipa.

paulina noir

paulina's mother used to read her de sade at bedtime. she fell in the street early on and her mind has been in the gutter ever since. she grew into one of the most stunning specimens and helps cuties with their relationship problems.

having just returned to australia after three years of research in los angeles into how much soul one has to sever in order to become a pop star (the answer: too much), donné is now working on a fourth album while diving headlong into the novel that may or may not ever be finished.

gina tron is a writing robot. she is the features editor for ladygunn magazine and has contributed to such magazines as vice, bullet, and the daily beast. she is editor-in-chief for williamsburg fashion weekend magazine. gina doodles up quick drawings designed for entertainment on her tumblr and is working on finishing her first book.

ajinkya chabukswar is an amateur poet, photographer and traveler who often travels alone. children in diverse situations have been a major part of his photography. photographing children gives him the opportunity to delve into his childhood again and again. he writes in hindi and english; poems, on love and despair, of which, love, is a mystical feeling for him. he is a woody allen and wong kar wai fan.

timothy cheng

hong kong based timothy cheng almost never leaves the house without his grd camera. tim picked up on his street photography back in two thousand and seven and rapidly developed a really nice style. working during the day as a creative for a big advertising agency, his field of work is mostly set in the bigger hong kong district. he co-founded photo now bringing together great photos and art contributing to the local art and design of hong kong.

marji lang

marji lang was born in france in nineteen seventy nine. she has travelled through asia and the Indian subcontinent frequently over the last decade. india has become her favourite destination and a major source of inspiration. focusing on the human condition through various themes of daily life, pilgrimages, religion, social and cultural issues, she is driven by colors and geometry.
