issue one: keep your powder dry.
october, twenty twelve.

oh my… here we are with the first issue of powder and i tell you, gorgeous things, that we be so glad to arrive... i'm i.t.a., the editor of powder and i’d like to welcome you to peruse our magazine at your pleasure.

we like to think of powder as a t.a.z. (temporary autonomous zone); a free platform for expression of ideas and artistry not represented elsewhere. we’re talking subversive content… and powder is definitely naughty fun.

we’re tackling our content on four fronts: subversive thought, words, visuals and style.

this issue is keep your powder dry. it’s all about keeping your explosive material potent and exposing what volatile material the powers that be have been hiding. it’s that glass of red knocked over on the coffee table just missing those white lines; it’s that teardrop that trickled down smearing a trail of mascara over your foundation and yet you still looked damn hot…

in this issue we chat with mary anne tenuto about the zapatista movement eighteen years after the revolt. the oh so gorgeous miss hannah minx speaks with me about her journey so far. melbourne street artist, kaff-eine and peruvian painter, marco angles display their arresting works while we also take a look at the street fashion of the indian male with gopal MS, photographer from the sub-continent. maru delgado, vinny bombora and sil enus share some of their potent words. regular columnist stray violet fills us in on freedom of speech while our agony aunt, paulina noir, sets your problems right.

i’d also like to acknowledge the powder team who brought it all together. asa, our web devel, without him we would be staring at a blank screen with no buttons to push. creative director, peggy, who literally had me falling off my chair with her flashes of brilliance. chica loca, our photographic editor, well she can just snap the hell out of anything and come up with a divine piece of imagery. oh and least i forget my assistant, wonton soup, without her help my attempts would’ve looked amateurish.

and what else to say? well my honeyed readers, i hope you love powder as much as i love you.

peaches,

i.t.a.
