issue two: want sugar.
december, twenty twelve.

so sugar sugars it’s powder’s second issue and well i might add that it is just too much.

the ‘want sugar’ powder issue; it’s just like the words that tigress nina used to sing, ‘i want a little sugar in my bowl’ and quite frankly of late this rings true with me as my bowl has been so empty and it’s just pining for a little.

it’s also about wanting a little more of what you are owed, i’m talking rights sister and if you want an expression of this you should check out spanish street artist M-E-S-A’s pieces in the western sahara and then peruse the rest of his gallery it’s astounding.

speaking of rights and what one is owed nick chesterfield of west papua media says it all in an interview i did with him recently about the deplorable situation in west papua. read it and take a moment to reflect on the plight of our west papuan sisters and brothers.

i also spoke to bryan saunder’s of the drug portraits fame; now there’s an interesting guy. he told me all about the eight thousand plus self-portraits he’s made, his bizarre experiments with the third ear and his search into the unconscious. we’ve got a gallery of his works check it out, you’ll be gazing for hours.

you want to talk style? well this issue powder’s got plenty… jo dunlop brings us the colour explosion of street fashion in sierra leone. we check out the scintillating SZN fashion shoot and i speak to the discerning photographer konrad lenz. oh my and the beautiful hues of jessie schattner’s photography are on display in a gallery of her pieces.

and powder’s got words just for you scrumptious… ms christou takes a slow boat down the amazon to trip on ayahuasca. abe, well, abe just takes us to a point of no return in a medicine bottle. louise carter graces us with her poignant poetry while maru delgado is back again with some of her delectable verse.

stray violet gives us the low down on why feminism is so pertinent. zibechi discusses the uruguayan government’s proposal to legalise marijuana. karlina veras sprinkles some sugar our way whilst silenus takes us for a journey on the inside. vinny, well i won’t mention his piece because it’s a disgrace and paulina, oh my,she’s such a tramp.

and thanks to asa, the masterblaster of the net. peggy for her creative wisdom and chica loca for pointing that weapon in the right direction. also wonton soup for assistance with all matters french.

so do check powder and remember i love all you cats and wish i could curl up with every last one of you at the end of each night… otherwise, a few of you will do.

peaches,
