issue eleven: xin xing du pin.
december, twenty thirteen.

xin xing du pin, xin xing du pin, xin xing du pin… some new kind of drug - that’s the new issue of powder.

you know, it’s all about when you are out there on the street, just having a time, someone pulls out a baggie and it’s like some sort of powder that you’ve just never tasted before. these days the new synthetics seem to be falling from the sky. it’s all about changing the chemical compound, just that little bit so’s the new product is legal and hopefully has the same effect as its predecessor.

we could take a moment to reflect that if the authorities didn’t prohibit all the old drugs - the ones that seem to be more natural, tried and tested - then people wouldn’t be sitting about in laboratories coming up with new substances trying to imitate the old ones. let’s forget about the fact that we just might be better off with the old ones being readily available so’s we’re not snorting up some new product that may or may not be a great high.

and let’s get back to powder… and whoa, just how the hell did we get to the end of the year again. i mean truly it’s like it just starts and before you can flicker your eyelash, you’ve got to get back out to the store to buy another new year’s eve frock… oh my.

we’ve got such a hot under the collar issue this time from the breathtaking photography of yaman ibrahim
to the glamorous street art of new york’s dain to the mauri inspired painting of sofia minson.

i had a chat with the gorgeous violet chachki from atlanta, which got me quite hot and bothered. and while i’m dropping names well i spoke to lilyluciole whose is just so enchanting and her artwork’s to die for.

there’s the hard edged works of marco saldaña straight out of lima, the wild felix inspired pieces from violent and sexy and the ethereal painting from slikor.

yes more powder, sharp mirrors is a beautiful collaboration with the poetry of peru’s own maru delgado that compliments the photographs of afghanistan’s nazir ekhlass. and jody steel hits us with her intricate drawings in leg work.

fashion oh yeah we’ve got fashion, street style from los angeles with streetgeist and what's happening right now on the streets of helsinki from hel looks. and mr nutter has hit us yet again with some fine snaps in reflections.

ella black’s piece will get you all a-flustered, gina tron spins a disturbing little tale while louise carter hits us with a rhythmic poem.

some of the most devastating photography we’ve featured in powder is all here this issue. marine armstrong takes us on a colourful stroll through india while gopal ms delivers trigger happy. whimsical shots from mia yin and the lovely collaboration that is amamak photography.

so honey just before you get your fix of powder i’d just like to say that’s it’s been a very special year with you reading. you make it all worthwhile. in between issues i often think of you lying on a rug, you’ve neglected to put your clothes on and you seem to be beckoning… beckoning me forth and oh i comply, indeed i comply so much that you can’t stand after our little dalliance. so just remember sweet one that it is you i love, you and only you.

peaches,
