issue nine: thug.
september, twenty thirteen.

fabulous, oh it’s so, so fabulous to present you with another issue of powder. fabulous to have you back and i might say i think this is a most fabulous issue… shimmy.

now this is the thug issue of powder. i mean heavy. we’ve all known a few thugs in our time and well despite how nasty they are don’t we all just have to love them and their tattoos… like fawn.

by the sounds of it vinny has known some thugs but really does that surprise anyone?

now i’m terribly excited. why? well because i spoke to the one and only cash savage this month, what an honour. like tons of you i can’t get enough of her new album hypnotiser.

and too much i also spoke to shamsia hassani, who is only the first street artist ever to grace the walls of afghanistan… inspirational hey.

if that ain’t enough street art for you we’re brimming with the animal spirit imagery of sydney street artist nico and more we have the stylish stencils from auckland’s own component… how powder is that?

donné restom returns with an engaging article about f to m gender transition, ash: documenting transition. read it and thank me or actually maybe you should thank her.

i got the lowdown on the drug world from max daly whose book narcomania, a journey through britain’s drug world is about to be released in a new paperback edition. riveting read and it's a riveting interview.

fashion, you want it? well powder’s got it… the sultry micmojo photography from jan scholz in brussels. the oh so chic street fashion of seoul seen through the lens of rokstyles. and fashion photographer lee nutter presents a captivating shoot of ayla stapleton.

i spoke to the intriguing illustrator nearchos ntaskas who is co-founder of polkadot design situated beneath the acropolis in athens. while we are lucky enough to present a selection of images from the mandela poster project; a project celebrating the life madiba and his contribution to humanity.

gina tron takes us on a haunting drive down the highway in deathluck night.

oh and do we have some outrageous photography for you. ajinkya chabukswar captures some ethereal shots of the murals and carvings of ajanta. photographer marji lang takes your breath away in glimpses of bharat. timothy cheng displays a series of poignant moments on the streets of hong kong while sam alive captures the beauty and the beautiful of taiwan.

some poesy… we’ve got louise carter’s whimsical roux and another onslaught of the passionate poetry of maru delgado. both these sisters of poetry can really drive the pen.

alas someone let paulina noir onto the site again to push her jaded points of view.

i so love it gorgeous, when you visit me at powder. i mean you are my favourite and you certainly are the best. it’s almost too much to stand the way your thuggish charm just takes me. so after you finish perusing the pages come over here… just that little bit closer. oh i can almost feel you now, ain’t nothing more i want to feel.

peaches,
