because many women don’t believe they need feminism and find it annoying when mentioned… oh yes we know it’s not good that they mutilate women in Africa but we have equality here… feminism is not just for the white middle class and rich... anyone who claims women have equality expose their privileged ignorant worldview
because I remember learning in school that women were once considered part of a man’s chattel, then grew up to learn this is not a historical relic in many countries in the world
because a woman in her seventies still fears being sexually assaulted
because rape is used as a weapon of war
because child rape is legalised in all countries that allow men to marry children
because annually two million children enter into the commercial sex industry
because women can spend time in jail for being raped (the charge adultery)
because men still rule the world
because it is fighting for globalised female education and freely accessible contraception and abortion, with the earth choking under the weight of almost 7 billion humans…
because there are still people in 2012, gasp, who believe that having an abortion is immoral and that a foetus is a baby… these crazies actually have some power in many countries and women’s rights over their bodies are secondary to the rights of the foetus… these sick bastards would rather risk the life of the woman and accept the sometimes fatal result, than conduct an abortion… rather force a woman to carry a non-viable foetus to term to die at birth…
because abortion is ok if any woman has sex anytime with anyone, the fall into the conditional debate just slips back into the dark ages... it’s ok anytime any woman wants one
